For admission purposes there are two groups of applicants to Macquarie programs -
Local Applicants
Admission for local applicants to Macquarie University is based on academic merit. If you are seeking admission to an undergraduate program you must be able to provide evidence that you have the potential for tertiary study. Students who can demonstrate previous academic merit should apply through the Universities Admissions Centre.
Applicants who do not have accessible or sufficient academic merit may consider our Alternative Entry and Special Consideration Schemes called Pathways. These schemes often provide bonus points or the necessary academic record for admission into Macquarie University.
Macquarie University also provides a direct applications to certain programs in languages, honours and postgraduate study.

Universities Admissions Centre
Most offers to Macquarie University are made through the Universities Admissions Centre. Admission to Macquarie University via the UAC is based on academic merit. If you are seeking admission to an undergraduate program you must be able to provide evidence that you have the potential for tertiary study.

Alternate Pathways
