Distance Education
Applications for Semester 1, 2009 are now closed.
Macquarie University offers a number of degrees via distance education. Most units offered via distance education will be taught via correspondence.
All applications for distance education are handled by the Universities Admissions Centre. For admission in Semester 1 2009 Macquarie will offer the following distance education degrees:
- Bachelor of Arts by Distance Education
- Bachelor of Science by Distance Education
- Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood Education) by Distance Education
- Bachelor of Laws by Distance Education
Please note that application dates for Distance Education degrees may vary from on-campus degrees.
All applications for distance education are handled by the Universities Admissions Centre.
Non-2008 Year 12 applicants for the Bachelor of Arts and the Bachelor of Science by distance education must submit a personal statement to the University before 28 September 2008. This statement is a very important part of the selection process, and you should give very careful consideration to your response. Please address the following issues:
- Describe your background, and reasons why you have not undertaken university studies in the past. If you have studied at university please explain why you need to be considered for special admission including your reasons for any past failures.
- State your proposed area of study, reasons for selecting it and how you will combine the demands of university study with your other commitments. Please refer to the Handbook of Undergraduate Studies.
- Give any information about your personal abilities; skills, achievements, experiences and interests that you feel might be relevant to your application.
Applications will not be considered without a personal statement. Statements must be received before 28 September 2008.

Bachelor of Laws (LLB) by Distance Education

The Bachelor of Laws (LLB) by Distance Education is not available for mid-year entry.

Students who complete the B Laws degree by distance education will meet the academic qualification for the practice of law in Australia.
Applications for B Laws are only open to students who will be
- residing in Australia during semester time and
- at least 21 years old on 1 March of the year of commencement and
- Australian Permanent Resident or Australian Citizen.
This degree is only offered externally on a part-time basis. The minimum length of study is between 5.5-6 years.
