The Mature Age Jubilee Scheme at Macquarie University offers a limited number of on-campus undergraduate places to those people who are 21 years of age or over and who have not had the opportunity to study previously at university degree level or higher. If you are considering beginning a degree, the Mature Age Jubilee Scheme may be a way of fulfilling your ambition.
Applicants will receive notification of the result of their application in January 2010.

Who Can Apply?
You can apply if:
- you will be 21 years of age or over on 1 March 2010;
- you wish to study on-campus; and
- you have not previously been enrolled in a University degree.
Whilst students are encouraged to study on-campus enrolment in off-campus units will be allowed.
Preference will be given to applicants who do not have the necessary academic qualifications for entry to University. You should be aware that quota restrictions will apply and assessment on admission is primarily based on your personal statement.
If you hold a completed Associate Diploma or Diploma from an accredited provider in a relevant area, for example a Diploma of Early Childhood Studies, you are eligible to apply under the Mature Age Jubilee Scheme.
If you have successfully completed part or all of a degree program at university, you are not eligible for admission through the Mature Age Jubilee Scheme. When you apply, you are required to select the Faculty in which you wish to be registered, according to your proposed area of study. You should indicate this in (b)Faculty of Registration on the online application form, along with your choice of course. How to Apply
All applicants are required to complete two separate steps to submit a valid application. Incomplete applications will not be assessed.
Step 1: Complete the On-line Application Form
Step 2: Print out Jubilee application additional requirement Cover Sheet (which includes the compulsory personal statement) - complete your details and return to Coursework Studies Section with relevant supporting documentation (including proof of age).

Programs of Study
For 2010, admission through the Mature Age Jubilee Scheme is only available to following degree programs:
- Bachelor of Arts
- Bachelor of Arts with the Diploma of Education (primary/secondary)
- Bachelor of Science
- Bachelor of Science with the Diploma of Education (primary/secondary)
- Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood Education)
These five programs are available on either a full-time or part-time basis.
Mode Of Study
Students may elect to study either full-time or part-time, on-campus, for any of the courses. You may change your attendance status each semester according to the workload you wish to undertake. In selecting applicants for admission, no consideration will be given to whether you have selected full-time or part-time attendance. Evening classes are held for many units. You should consult the table of units in the Handbook of Undergraduate Studies.
Please note that you cannot defer your place but are welcome to re-apply.
Course Transfers
If you are successful in your studies, you are encouraged to take advantage of the University’s internal degree transfer program. For example, students interested in Psychology may transfer to the BA/BSc - Psychology program if they have completed at least 12 credit points (normally 4 units of study) as a degree student at Macquarie University with a grade point average (gpa) of 2.5. Similarly, students may transfer to the BEc/BCom in Economics or a BCom - Accounting, if they have completed at least 12 credit points (normally 4 units of study) as a degree student at Macquarie University with a gpa of 2.0.
You should be aware that course transfer requirements may be subject to change, and that the internal transfer option is not available for all Macquarie University Undergraduate Degrees.
Information About Macquarie University
If you are offered a place in the Mature Age Jubilee Scheme for Semester 1 2010, enrolment will take place in February 2010. You will be required to attend your scheduled enrolment session in person with the exact date to be advised.
Classes for Semester 1 2010 will commence on Monday 22 Feburary.
Class attendance is often only a small proportion of the total work load for a unit; tutorials, laboratory work, reading and research in the Library, writing assignments and study at home are all part of the work involved. It is expected that one credit point in a half-year unit involves, on average, three hours of work each week in that half-year. Thus, a student enrolled in units totaling 6 credit points in a half-year should spend about 18 hours each week on these units.
The University runs courses on essay writing and numeracy skills for those students who need some help and support in these areas. There is a counselling service for those students who find adjustment to study difficult.
