Commonwealth Scholarships (CS)

The Commonwealth Scholarships Program is a Commonwealth funded scheme open to new and continuing undergraduate students at Macquarie University including Honours students and students studying the Graduate Diploma in Education, the Bachelor of Education (Primary), and the Bachelor of Education (Secondary). The scheme is aimed at students from low socio-economic backgrounds, particularly Indigenous students and students from rural and regional areas.

There are two types of Commonwealth Scholarships:

Value

  1. Commonwealth Education Costs Scholarships (CECS), which help with general education costs ($2,207), and
  2. Commonwealth Accommodation Scholarships (CAS) to help students from rural and remote areas with accommodation costs ($4415).

These values are indexed each year.

How to apply

Applications for this scheme are through the Universities Admissions Centre (UAC). More information and the online application can be found on www.uac.edu.au/equity/equityschols.html

On time applications close on 30 September 2008. Late applications will be accepted until 28 November 2008.

Notification Date

Applicants will be advised of the outcome of their application by 23 January 2009
