New Macquarie Scholarship Programs
Macquarie University Merit Scholar Program
All domestic students with a UAI of 98.5 or above will be Macquarie Merit Scholars. As Macquarie Merit Scholars you will be given priority access to a range of opportunities, such as advanced programs, internships and international studies, specific to each program subject to your academic performance
The University invites students to also apply to the Macquarie University Merit Scholarship. These highly competitive non-deferrable scholarships offer recipients an award of $12,000 p.a. The details of this scholarship are below.
Amount
$12,000 p.a. for up to five years
Eligibility Criteria
Must have UAI of 98.5 or above (from 2007 HSC only) and able to display:
- Outstanding character and
- Maturity and
- Common sense and
- Eagerness and passion, and
- Capacity to triumph over hardship, including financial disadvantage, sole parent or carer responsibilities, non-English speaking or Indigenous background, effects of trauma and/or abuse, long term medical condition/disability, coming from rural or remote area, and so forth

Please note:
- Candidates may be called for interview.
- Recipients are also permitted to accept a Macquarie Accommodation Scholarship (MAS) or Commonwealth Accommodation Scholarship (CAS).
Macquarie Education Costs Scholarship (MECS)
This equity based scholarship is designed to support recipients whose opportunities to study at university may have been hampered by situations out of their control.
Amount
$4,324 p.a. up to 4 years
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be eligible for Commonwealth Scholarship and
Must be able to display:
- Outstanding character and
- Maturity and
- Common sense and
- Eagerness and passion, and
- Capacity to triumph over hardship, including financial disadvantage, sole parent or carer responsibilities, non-English speaking or Indigenous background, effects of trauma and/or abuse, long term medical condition/disability, coming from rural or remote area, and so forth

Macquarie Accommodation Scholarship (MAS)
This scholarship is designed to support recipients whose living situation may have hampered their ability to study at Macquarie, and who would benefit from relocation.
Please note: The relocation requirements for these awards are different than that for the Commonwealth Scholarships. Students who move from one urban area to another may be eligible for MAS.
Amount
$8,648 p.a. for up to 4 years.
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be eligible for Commonwealth Scholarship and
Must be able to display:
- Outstanding character and
- Maturity and
- Common sense and
- Eagerness and passion, and
- Capacity to triumph over hardship, including financial disadvantage, sole parent or carer responsibilities, non-English speaking or Indigenous background, effects of trauma and/or abuse, long term medical condition/disability, coming from rural or remote area, and so forth
- Applicants who are relocating from one metro area to another are eligible to apply

Macquarie Higher Study Scholarships (MAHS)
This program is designed to support recipients to continue their studies to an advanced coursework or Honours level.
Amount
$8,648 p.a. for up to 4 years.
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be eligible for Commonwealth Scholarship and
- Eligible to continue on to Honours or onto a coursework postgraduate degree.
Must be able to display:
- Outstanding character and
- Maturity and
- Common sense and
- Eagerness and passion, and
- Capacity to triumph over hardship, including financial disadvantage, sole parent or carer responsibilities, non-English speaking or Indigenous background, effects of trauma and/or abuse, long term medical condition/disability, coming from rural or remote area, and so forth

Please note:
Priority will be given to students previously in receipt of MAS or MECS, or CAS or CECS, although Students transferring from other Universities or not previously in receipt of a scholarship can also apply.
Macquarie Indigenous Top-Up Scholarship (MITS)
This scholarship is to reward Indigenous students on commencement of their second and subsequent years of their study programs.
The University will offer these 'top-up' scholarships to each recipient of an Indigenous Access Scholarships (IAS), of increasing value for each year of a program commenced.
Amount
Year 2 enrolment: $1,000
Year 3 enrolment: $2,000
Year 4 enrolment: $3,000
